Choosing an advisor

Choosing an Advisor

All applicants must identify potential advisor(s) when filling in the application forms. To do this, contact individual Graduate Faculty members (by email or phone) whose research interests coincide with the your own interests. The applicant should ask the faculty member if they are currently accepting new graduate students and if the faculty member is able to offer financial support (through a Research Assistantship, or other means). When submitting the Personal Statement portion of the application to the Graduate School, applicants must specify the name of the faculty member they are interested in having as an advisor.

Acceptance into the department is contingent on both a student's academic record and the advisor/department having sufficient resources to support a new student.
