Entomology Graduate Student Wins CUAHSI Pathfinder Fellowship
Corrie Nyquist studies the winter emergence of Chironomidae (midges) in trout streams. She is part of the larger Chironomidae Research Group led by Dr. Leonard Ferrington in the Dept. of Entomology. The CUAHSI is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and the Pathfinder Program provides students in fields of water research with the opportunity to travel on an extended trip to enhance their graduate research. Her winning proposal was to build off of the research conducted last summer in Iceland, by expanding the scale of the project and making new observations based on data obtained in Minnesota. She will use the Pathfinder Fellowship to continue her work with researchers at the University of Iceland.
