| UMSP Trichoptera Biota© database Troubleshooting Below are some examples of common error messages. If you encounter an error not discussed here, please contact one of the database managers (Desi Robertson or Ralph Holzenthal)
"Left form" (see message) - You have probably inadvertently hit “Return” or used your browser’s navigation controls. If you get this message, simply click “OK”. Biota will then usually send you back to the main menu search page or to the previous page. Sometimes, this message is delayed, and may only appear when you attempt another query. In this case, the message will appear, but after you click “OK”, it will usually display your request. "Record already edited" (see message) - According to Rob Colwell, this means that another web visitor (or another browser instance on the same visitor's computer) has already clicked this item (or possibly navigated to the Trichoptera record some other way), and that connection (web process) has not yet terminated. This may also occur if someone has accessed the same field using the desktop version at UMSP. There may be no way to avoid this error message, however if you simply click “OK”, it should take you to the page you requested. "Save
changes?"
(see message) -
If you click on a field and try to type something, you may see this message
when you close the page. The online version of Biota does not allow you
to make any changes to the tables or fields. However, sometimes this message
still appears. If you do get this message, simply click cancel. Even if
you click "ok", your changes will not be saved. |
