UMSP Trichoptera Biota© database

Tables and fields

Taxonomic tables range from the level of family down to individual specimens. In general, each table is linked to the next taxonomic unit above or below the level of the table, e.g., from the genus table you can navigate to the family table or to a list of included species.

Family - contains higher classification information and links to a list of included genera (see family record).

Genus - contains higher classification information and links to a list of included species (see genus record).

Species - contains genus and family classification, species code, species author(s) and date synonymy information, and links to a list of databased specimens (see species record).

Specimen - contains family, genus, and species classification information, species code, unique specimen barcode numbers, collection code and general collection data, stage/sex information, preservation medium, depository information, abundances, and type status. The specimen record is linked to the collection and species records (see specimen record).

Collection and locality tables are linked to each other and are associated with specimen records.

Collection - contains collection and locality codes, detailed collection data including dates, georeference, and collection method. The collection record is linked to all specimens associated with the collecting event (see collection record).

Locality - contains detailed locality information and is linked to a list of all collection records from that particular locality (see locality record).
