Applying: Choosing an Advisor

How to Apply Funding Degrees Offered

All applicants must identify potential advisor(s) when filling in the application forms.  To do this, each applicant should contact individual Graduate Faculty members whose research interests coincide with the student’s own interests.  By email or phone, the applicant should ask the faculty member if they are currently accepting new graduate students and if the faculty member is able to offer financial support (through a Research Assistantship, or other means; link to Funding).  When submitting the Personal Statement portion of the application to the Graduate School, applicants must specify by name the faculty member(s) they are interested in having as an advisor.

Acceptance into the department is contingent on both a student's academic record and the advisor/department having sufficient resources to support a new student.
