Research in my lab focuses on sustainable integrated and organic management of arthropod pest, pollinator and beneficial species of fruit and vegetable crops in diverse production systems. Studies are broadly based in IPM, emphasizing an understanding of the impact of agricultural management on insect ecology and pest suppression. Additional interests include understanding the biology, ecology and management of invasive species (including spotted wing drosophila and brown marmorated stink bug), evaluating ecologically-based management practices and understanding the mechanisms that lead to improved pest suppression, and understanding how multi-trophic interactions impact insect feeding behavior and pest suppression. The overall goal of my program is to develop, evaluate, and help implement sound integrated and organic management practices of existing and emerging pests, to enhance the profitability and sustainability of fruit and vegetable production.
