Root Morphology and Conflict Stress - Slide 3

Roots that wrap around, partially or completely, and eventually restrict the flow of photosynthesis within the tree's stem are referred to as stem girdling roots. This is a stress that over time and in combination with other stresses may eventually account for the tree's death.
