  Web Quiz 5: Pesticides

Quiz 5 Assignment

  1. Using your notes, look up information for 10 pesticides (5 biorational and 5 conventional). The 2 examples do not count as part of the 10. Specify which are conventional (broad-spectrum: pyrethroids, organophosphates, neonicotinoids, carbamates, chlorinated hydrocarbons) and which are biorational (conserve beneficials: microbials, IGRs, soaps, oils, botanicals, specific miticides).

  2. To make the table, create 8 columns at the top of the table and label them as follows: (1) common chemical name of the pesticide, (2) trade name, (3) class (classification), (4) oral LD50, (5) dermal LD50, (6) chemical company.

  3. Put your name, date, and student number above the table.

  4. Make the table in Microsoft Word. Use Times font, size 10 or 12. Save the file in .doc or .rtf format and label it "last name, quiz #.doc or "last name, quiz #.rtf." The table may also be made in Excel and saved in .xls format. Email it as an enclosure. Put your name and quiz # in the email message subject. Please check with a virus protect program before emailing. Email to pests@umn.edu.

  5. 1 pt for each pesticide. For full credit, please be sure to specify which are conventional and which are biorational pesticides.
