  From your readings on the websites below and other websites, please answer the following questions. Answer the questions in an email message and put your name and quiz # in the email message subject. Answers should be emailed to pests@umn.edu. All enclosures must be labeled "last name, quiz #.doc or "last name, quiz #.rtf." Students may not copy each other's answers, although they are encouraged to discuss the assignment with their classmates.   Tree Diagnosis
  1. If you see a large elm tree with yellowing and flagging leaves, describe the three diseases it may have. How would you diagnose what was affecting the tree? What information would permit you to make a decision on what disease the tree has? Explain how insects vector two of those diseases. Describe the insect's life cycle, how the disease is vectored, how the disease kills the host, and what management is available. If a tree were very valuable, what pesticides would you use to control DED and the beetles? (5 pts)
