Insect Ecology

Fall 2006, D. A. Andow

Midterm essays

The purpose of the midterm essays is to encourage you to integrate course material across lecture topics.

  1. Page limit: 3 pages double spaced, 12 pt., 1 inch margins
  2. Must integrate material from at least 2 class periods (preferably more)
  3. Suggestion: Pose a question or problem (you may wish to refer to the questions for discussion at the end of my outlines, and develop a question like that) and orient your essay to answering the question.
  4. You may use outside references (include the citations), but I do not encourage it.  If you use outside references, the essay becomes more of a library-research paper, and less of an integration exercise.  You may cite material presented in class (refer to your lecture notes).
  5. Essays will be evaluated on how you use the information available to you and how you pose the question or problem.  They will not be evaluated on the basis of whether you are right or wrong.
