Research Interests:

Insects associated with the disease Butternut Canker.

Alternatives to insecticides in northern seed orchards--Pheromones and Fire.

Silvicultural options to reduce impacts from white pine weevil

Teaching Interests:

Forest Entomology, Univ. of Minnesota, 1993. Developed and taught a 4 credit course in forest entomology. Course material covered impacts, biology and management of forest and tree insects.

Forest Entomology, UMN, 1994-present. Three to five guest lectures each year on seed & cone insects, terminal weevils, budworm and biological control.

Insect & Disease Training Sessions, US Forest Service, 1992-1994. Developed with a forest pathologist, 2-day training sessions on forest insect and disease identification, impacts, biology, ecology, and management. Approximately 160 people trained on 5 National Forests and 1 National Park.
