Community Genetics Fellowship
The Center for Community Genetics awards a one-year graduate fellowship per
year. The 2001/2002 Community Genetics Fellow is Kristin Mercer, an Applied Plant Sciences Ph. D. graduate student.
Kristin studies the level of hybridization between transgenic, herbicide resistant
Brassica napus (Roundup Ready canola) and its wild relatives,
and how introgression of Bt insecticidal transgenes of genetically modified
canola into the gene pool of Brassica juncea (Indian or Brown mustard) affects lepidopteran herbivory damage on B. juncea.
